Paradiski the resort
Alp shack is in the Tarentaise valley of the Savoie region of the French Alps in Montorlin, La Plagne, in the Heart of Paradiski and is the perfect location for access to La Plagne and Les Arcs/Peisey-Vallandry the (Paradiski ski area).
Montorlin
Montorlin is a small picturesque village just a 10 minute walk from the resort of Montchavin Les Coches, and only a 15 minute drive from Bourg, at the bottom of some fantastic tree lined pistes in the La Plagne ski area. Set in the heart of the amazing Paradiski, the possibilities for exploring are endless with some 425 km of piste featuring glacier skiing, snow parks, forest and motorway runs, together with fantastic off piste.
Montchavin
The village of Montchavin sits at an altitude of 1250m and has retained its original structure providing an authentic Alps experience, with the advantage of it being traffic free. Les Coches is set at 1450m and being purpose built in 1980 has created a warm and friendly atmosphere. Located in the La Plagne ski area all resorts are connected by way of cable car or bus routes, which run until 1am.
Both Montachavin and Les Coches have all the shops and facilities that you may need such as Doctor, Chemist, Post Office, General Stores, Patisseries, Ski and Snowboard Hire, Gift shops etc., not to mention great restaurants, bars and a nightclub.
Resort activities feature ice-skating and snow shoe excursions. Weekly resort activities are arranged throughout the winter featuring events such as torchlight skiing and street shows. Click on the links provided below to find out more about future events. La Plagne resorts also feature a bob sleigh run, open air heated swimming pool at Bellecote, bowling at Belle Plagne, and a total of 30km of cleared walks.
La Plagne
La Plagne lies between 1250 and 3250 metres, and is made of six high altitude resotrts. La Plagne has over 225 km of slopes. Suitable for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities there are a huge variety of slopes available including 15 black runs (expert), 30 red runs (advanced), 72 blue runs (intermediate) and 10 green runs (beginner).
Away from the slopes, La Plagne is a hive of activity with a a large selection of bars, restaurant, shops and accommodation.
Les Arcs
Boarding the double decker cable car the Vanoise Express at Montchavin Les Coches links the La Plagne Area to Les Arcs, which has created the amazing Paradiski area. Even for the non-skiers the Vanoise Express offers fabulous views of the Vanoise and Mont Blanc.
Les Arcs, now only 4 minutes away, offers a fantastic snow record combined with north facing slopes, with an excellent selection of shops and restaurants between three bases, 1650, 1800 and 2000. The Les Arc resorts feature night skiing on 3 floodlit pistes, ice-skating, an ice grotto, cinema and bowling alley, and squash courts.
A visit to the area is not complete without a trip to Bourg St Maurice. A traditional non-resort town, Bourg features an international train station, with London St. Pancras only 8 hours 20 minutes away. Check out the fantastic local produce at the weekly market, and the shops and restaurants are also well worth a visit. Our particular recommendation is Le Refuge for the food and the warm welcome.
